“We cannot change what we are not aware of, and once we are aware, we cannot help but change.”
Welcome to a new frontier in living life out loud!
I’ve spent most of my life helping people finds their voices and tell their stories and I’ve seen the joy and life that comes from living on purpose, and the pain and frustration of keeping part of yourself secret or hidden. This applies in deeply personal and intimate parts of our lives and to the most public parts of ourselves. Most of us can pinpoint those places where we feel most fully ourselves and can feel the difference when we have to “check” a part of ourselves at the door. For some people, their professional persona is a less-true version of themselves, where others are more guarded at home.
I’ve seen over and over again that true innovation, creativity, and the solutions to some of our biggest challenges spring from the edges of the boundaries we run into in life–when bold people challenge assumptions, go out on a limb, or are able to look at an old problem from a new perspective. I love the Sheryl Sandberg quote at the top of this post because I think we all spend much of our lives looking at the world through well-trained eyes and seeing what we’ve learned to expect. Every once in a while though, something shifts–sometimes in big ways, and often in more subtle ones–and suddenly the things that we took for granted don’t quite make sense any more. When that happens, a quiet stirring begins and change begins.
This is a space to test the boundaries of our beliefs, explore our wildest dreams, and imagine what living a bolder life might look like. I built this space because I need it, but also because I can’t, and don’t want to, do it alone. I need your perspectives to see what I can’t see, and hope you’ll share your own ideas and dreams as this community grows. I’m glad you’re here. Welcome to the conversation!
